Softball Recap: North Central Comes Up Short

North Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Kaelee Jacobs was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Jacobs was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Samantha Saalfrank was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

North Central's loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9.

Coming up, North Central will host Ben Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Giants have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they will square off against Covenant Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
