Volleyball Recap: Cathedral Academy Takes a Loss

After a string of three wins, Cathedral Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sundevils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Cathedral Academy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 25-23.

Charleston Collegiate's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lyden Scapaletto, who had 13 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Scapaletto has posted since back in August. Vika Vuyiv was another key player, getting 20 assists and four aces.

Cathedral Academy's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-11. As for Charleston Collegiate, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Cathedral Academy will face off against Pinewood Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Charleston Collegiate, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Porter-Gaud on the 24th.
