Softball Game Preview: Cleveland Rams vs. Willow Spring Storm

The Cleveland Rams will head out to face off against the Willow Spring Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Cleveland's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Corinth Holders as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Karsyn Hudacky was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Meyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Sophia Richard also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Cleveland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .511 or higher in three consecutive games.

Willow Spring played against South Garner on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Cleveland pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Willow Spring, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.

Cleveland was able to grind out a solid victory over Willow Spring in their previous meeting back in March, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
