Volleyball Game Preview: Clark Chargers vs. Liberty Patriots

The Clark Chargers will take on the Liberty Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clark has struggled recently with 22 losses in a row, while Liberty will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Clark came up short against Rancho and fell 3-1.

While Clark ultimately came up short, they really made Rancho work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Clark might have lost, but man, Theodore Birdsong was a machine: he had 31 assists and four aces. Those 31 assists gave Birdsong a new career-high. Suphanat Sukhata was another key player, getting 11 kills and five blocks.

While Liberty didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Spring Valley on Tuesday.

Liberty never let Spring Valley on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-23.

Clark's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Clark might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Liberty when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Clark avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
