Softball Recap: Ida Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hillsdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ida). They never let the Hillsdale Hornets get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The Bluestreaks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Alex Haws was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Haws was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Karlee Walentowski was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Lambert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Ida always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Ida's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Hillsdale, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Ida will challenge Onsted at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillsdale, they will face off against Springport at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
