Softball Recap: American Leadership Academy Comes Up Short

American Leadership Academy extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-15-1 in the process. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Strom Thurmond Rebels. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

As for Strom Thurmond, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Strom Thurmond's part, the result came thanks to Emmy Mckie's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. Mckie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Grant, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addyson Harrison, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, American Leadership Academy will challenge Ninety Six at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Strom Thurmond, they will take on Saluda at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Rebels surely won't give up without a fight.
