Volleyball Recap: Austin Catholic Takes a Loss

If Austin Catholic was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Landmark Academy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crusaders lost 3-0 to the University Liggett Knights on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Crusaders have suffered since November 1, 2024.

While Austin Catholic ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-17, 25-17.

Allie Gianino paced Austin Catholic's offense, picking up six kills. Gianino got some help from Rebecca Shrodes and her nine assists. Josie Boutorwick controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Austin Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 10-4-2. As for University Liggett, they now have a winning record of 6-5-2.

Austin Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Armada on the 4th. As for University Liggett, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bishop Foley at 5:00 p.m. on the 14th.
