Basketball Recap: Tintic Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Tintic unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Green River Pirates at home by a 59-45 margin on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Miners' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haygen Jameson, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Braylon Jones, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.

Rolando Anguiano was a one-man wrecking crew For Green River. as he shot 6-for-9 from long range and dropped a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Anguiano's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Jason Hernandez was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 17 points.

Coming up, Tintic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Manila at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Miners' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Green River, they will challenge North Sevier at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
