Softball Game Preview: Washington Huskies vs. Moreau Catholic Mariners

Washington hasn't had much luck against Moreau Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Huskies will venture away from home to challenge the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. Washington has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Washington is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Kennedy, falling 12-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 28, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Ariel Guerra was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic lost 11-1 to James Logan on Tuesday. The Mariners have struggled against the Colts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Moreau Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Mejia, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Moreau Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Washington skirted past Moreau Catholic 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
