Basketball Recap: Holmes Falls Despite Big Games from Kate Foster and Chloe Chappell

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell to the Martin County Gators 44-40.

Despite the loss, Holmes had strong showings from Chloe Chappell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Kate Foster, who posted 11 points and four steals. That's the most steals Foster has posted since back in November of 2023.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Martin County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Holmes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-36 loss against Gates County on the 6th. As for Martin County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 38-33 win against Ayden - Grifton on the 9th.
