Progreso is on a seven-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Santa Gertrudis Academy a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Progreso Red Ants will take on the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Progreso comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.

Progreso fell victim to Lyford's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 71-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Santa Gertrudis Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 18-13 to Falfurrias.

The losses dropped Progreso to 0-9 and Santa Gertrudis Academy to 4-5.

Progreso was dealt a bruising 60-6 loss at the hands of Santa Gertrudis Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Progreso, Tony De la cruz (who rushed for 178 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
