Basketball Recap: Ryleigh Trivette's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Andrew Jackson Academy over Cross

Andrew Jackson Academy lost against Cross back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The contest between the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors and the Cross Stingrays didn't end well, with the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors falling 54-36.

Andrew Jackson Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryleigh Trivette, who posted three points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Trivette has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was McKinnley Beard, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Cross' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Mayers, who went 9 for 14 en route to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mayers has scored at least a third of Cross' points. Sydney Hollings was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Andrew Jackson Academy now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Cross, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

Andrew Jackson Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-21 victory against Thomas Heyward Academy on the 30th. Cross has also already played their next game, a 64-26 win against Bridges Prep on the 29th.
