Basketball Recap: Natalie Neuhaus' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Discovery Canyon over Palmer Ridge

Discovery Canyon came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Palmer Ridge Bears, falling 54-31. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-38 back in January.

Discovery Canyon's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Neuhaus, who posted six points. Another player making a difference was Addison Hulse, who earned three points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.

Even though they lost, Discovery Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Palmer Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Addison Steenland out in front who scored 16 points. Steenland has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Annaliese Bossinger was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Discovery Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Palmer Ridge, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Discovery Canyon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-39 loss against Air Academy on the 7th. As for Palmer Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 45-42 defeat against Lutheran on the 7th.
