Football Recap: Lincolnton Finds Playoff Glory Versus Hendersonville

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lincolnton had no problem doing just that on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 victory over the Hendersonville Bearcats. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lincolnton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rj Lynch and Messiah Thompson.

Hendersonville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jordan Buford, who rushed for 187 yards and two scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 105.9 rushing yards per game. Amir Albany was another key player, gaining 172 total yards and a touchdown.

Lincolnton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.6 points over those games. As for Hendersonville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Lincolnton will square off against Mountain Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups. Hendersonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
