Softball Recap: Lake City Tigers vs. Byron Bears

Lake City extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-4 in the process. They fell 7-4 to the Byron Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 12-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Byron, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.

For Byron's part, Mackenzie Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Steele has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kaydence Fjerstad was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Tallie Behrens also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
