There's no place like home for Marceline, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Northwestern Eagles 9-8 on Monday. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Cody Rodgers made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Marceline's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 4-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Payton Gladbach was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Dax Thomas was another key player, earning one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
Marceline's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-13. As for Northwestern, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marceline will be taking part in a tournament against Palmyra at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northwestern, they will venture away from home to face off against Braymer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
