Basketball Game Preview: Lake Norman Charter Knights vs. Carson Cougars

The Lake Norman Charter Knights will square off against the Carson Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lake Norman Charter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Lake Norman Charter is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing South Rowan: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lake Norman Charter blew South Rowan out of the water with a 78-27 final score. With the Knights ahead 42-15 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Lake Norman Charter had a senior duo take command as Major Leak went 8 for 10 on his way to 17 points along with five boards and five steals and Jay Morgan went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Leak continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Wilkie, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Lake Norman Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, everything went Carson's way against Northwest Cabarrus on Thursday as Carson made off with a 67-46 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Carson's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. As for Lake Norman Charter, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
