Eastern has gone 6-1 against North Adams recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Warriors will head out to challenge the Green Devils at 5:00 p.m. Eastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Eastern proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Manchester 3-2. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Allie Grooms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Eastern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddi Simpson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Izzy Spires also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, North Adams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Fairfield, falling 16-6.
Anna Armstrong and Paige Evans stepped up to the plate in a big way. Armstrong scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Evans went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Ahlyesa Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
North Adams' defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
North Adams' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eastern has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for North Adams, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Eastern's sizable advantage in that area, the Green Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Eastern took their victory against North Adams in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-6 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Green Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
