Softball Recap: LEE Volunteers vs. Churchill Chargers
LEE had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-22 to make it six. They came up short against the Churchill Chargers, falling 19-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in March.
LEE saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liliana Ramirez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Alayna Castellano was another, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Churchill, the win got them back to even at 14-14-1. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On Churchill's side, Nia De Luna was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Wasiak, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
LEE does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Churchill, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-0 loss against Harlan on the 26th.
