Essex came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Mt. Mansfield Cougars as they made off with a 25-1 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Essex's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mt. Mansfield, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Essex will venture away from home to face off against Bellows Free Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hornets 3.7, the Bobwhites 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Mt. Mansfield, they will take on South Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.2 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
