Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Waterford

Waterford waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Rowland Hall Winged Lions with points to spare, taking the game 41-23. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 37-25 back in January.

Waterford had a senior duo take command as Anne Howard almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards and Halee Hasebi posted seven points and ten rebounds. Howard also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Waterford is 7-3 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Catriona Kawamoto also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Rowland Hall lost, don't look at Kavitha Kasturi. Despite the final result, she had 12 points. Those 12 points gave Kasturi a new career-high.

Waterford pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points over those games. As for Rowland Hall, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

As of now, neither Waterford nor Rowland Hall have any future games scheduled.
