Baseball Game Preview: Minico Spartans vs. Jerome Tigers

The Minico Spartans will face off against the Jerome Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Minico has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Minico fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Burley on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 7-6.

Braxon Trenkle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Minico saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Garza, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Jalyx Guzman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Thursday. Jerome lost 14-7 to Mountain Home. Jerome has struggled against Mountain Home recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Minico's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Jerome, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
