            Softball Preview: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Springville Red Devils        
        
		
        
        
            The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles will take on the Springville Red Devils at 3:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Neither Maple Mountain nor Springville posted many  runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Maple Mountain easily dispatched Brighton last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Golden Eagles fell just short of Cedar Valley by a score of  4-2 on Tuesday.
 Maple Mountain saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Brettlyn Walker, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-2. Another  was  McClain Carter, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Springville was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They took  a  5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salem Hills. The  game marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring  match so far this season.
 Maple Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Springville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Thursday's   contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Maple Mountain has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .482. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Maple Mountain couldn't quite finish off Springville in their previous meeting  back in May of 2024 and fell  8-6. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
