With a playoff win on the line, Tupelo rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Lewisburg Patriots 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Golden Wave: when they faced off against the Patriots on Monday, they had to take a 13-3 loss.

South McCoy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

In other batting news, Landon Swinney was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brody Wilson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Tupelo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-14 record this season. As for Lewisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tupelo beat the Patriots by a score of 8-7 later that day.
