Recap: Jeannette Jayhawks vs. Steel Valley Ironmen
The Jeannette Jayhawks won the last time they faced the Steel Valley Ironmen, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Jeannette secured a 46-41 W over Steel Valley. Given Jeannette's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Steel Valley is ranked 593rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jeannette found their leader in underclassman Markus McGowan, who scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kymone Brown, who scored 11 points.
Jeannette's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Steel Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Jeannette will be home for the holidays to greet Serra Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Serra Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday. Steel Valley will take on Seton LaSalle in a holiday battle at TBD on Friday at.
