Softball Recap: McIntosh Chiefs vs. Newnan Cougars
McIntosh's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Newnan Cougars. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chiefs considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Gracey Mustain was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Michelle Chicas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, McIntosh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newnan only posted a batting average of .250.
McIntosh's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Newnan, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McIntosh will host Lovejoy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. McIntosh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Newnan, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Northgate at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northgate knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten run or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Newnan likes a good challenge.
