On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to McComb's defensive line and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Hackett, Peters, and Anthony Tow Truck Alexander, who each picked up one sack apiece. Hackett was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Meanwhile, Poplarville's offense rose to the challenge against a Bearcats defense that boasted an average of only 14.92 points allowed on Friday. The Hornets walked away with a 43-34 victory over Forest. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

McComb better keep an eye on Tylan Keys. He was instrumental in Poplarville's win, rushing for 195 yards and four scores. Keys' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 195 rushing yards.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. McComb has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 147.7 rushing yards per game. McComb won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in October, slipping by Poplarville 35-34. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Keys, who rushed for 285 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per carry.
