The McComb Tigers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Poplarville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in McComb's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
McComb is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 win over Leake Central. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Tigers were down 28-13 in the second quarter.

McComb's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Broderick Peters, who rushed for 42 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Those 42 rushing yards gave Peters a new career-high.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to McComb's defensive line and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Hackett, Peters, and Anthony Tow Truck Alexander, who each picked up one sack apiece. Hackett was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, Poplarville's offense rose to the challenge against a Bearcats defense that boasted an average of only 14.92 points allowed on Friday. The Hornets walked away with a 43-34 victory over Forest. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.
McComb better keep an eye on Tylan Keys. He was instrumental in Poplarville's win, rushing for 195 yards and four scores. Keys' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 195 rushing yards.

McComb's record is now 10-1. As for Poplarville, their record now sits at 7-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. McComb has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 147.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Poplarville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 291.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
McComb won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in October, slipping by Poplarville 35-34. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Keys, who rushed for 285 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Tigers still be able to contain Keys? There's only one way to find out.
