Preview: Newton Tigers vs. Clarkdale Bulldogs
Newton is 8-0 against Clarkdale since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Newton Tigers will be playing at home against the Clarkdale Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Newton's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while Clarkdale has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Newton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Clarkdale 91-63 on the road. Given Newton's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Clarkdale is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Newton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Clarkdale, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
