Football Game Preview: Tremont Turks vs. Tri-Valley Vikings

Tremont hasn't had much luck against Tri-Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Turks will be playing at home against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Tremont has given up an average of 31.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Tremont and El Paso-Gridley meet (seven straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Turks were dealt a 38-6 loss at the hands of the Titans. The contest marked the Turks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tri-Valley). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Clinton 56-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Vikings' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Maroons are ranked 469th).

Tri-Valley's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.2 points on average this season. As for Tremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
