Softball Recap: Pennfield Has No Trouble Against Comstock

Pennfield never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the Comstock Colts as they made off with a 16-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-1 on Monday.

Jenna Wiley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wiley was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erica Gregorie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Alaina Simmons also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pennfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Pennfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Comstock, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Pennfield will take on Hastings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Comstock, they will face off against Allegan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
