Recap: Cardinal Newman Cardinals vs. West Florence Knights
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Spring Valley, the Cardinal Newman Cardinals were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down West Florence 44-27.
Cardinal Newman found their leader in underclassman Teonna Draughn, who scored 20 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. The matchup was Draughn's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zara Thompson, who scored 6 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Cardinal Newman has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. As for West Florence, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cardinal Newman will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Hilton Head Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday. As for West Florence, they will head out on the road to face off against A.C. Flora at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
