Billy Bardani was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Kady, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Joel Barlow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pomperaug, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Masuk a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Pomperaug has posted since April 9, 2024.
Not much got past Brandon Schussler, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Masuk off the board. Schussler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Parker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Pomperaug's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).
Joel Barlow pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pomperaug, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Pomperaug's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Joel Barlow has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. It's a different story for Pomperaug, though, as they've only averaged .346. Will they be able to contain Joel Barlow's hitters?
