Recap: Rockledge Raiders vs. Okeechobee Brahmans
The Rockledge Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Okeechobee by a score of 48-45. Rockledge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Okeechobee apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makaiya Watkins, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Watkins scored a full 44.4% of Rockledge's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaida Williams-Goins was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 8 steals.
Okeechobee can attribute much of their success to Justice Shanks, who scored 28 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Shanks has scored at least 25% of Okeechobee's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendranique Wiggins, who scored 8 points.
Rockledge's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Okeechobee, their victory bumped their record up to 1-3.
Rockledge will head out on the road to face off against Cocoa at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cocoa will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Okeechobee, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lincoln Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. Lincoln Park Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 194 points over their last three contests.
