League recap: East Valley jumps in national rankings thanks to big week

Valley league recap: 5/29/12

Behind a 1-1 record over the past week, East Valley made the biggest jump in the national rankings, all the way from 11699 to 11548. The Falcon are currently No. 918 in the state of California, with an overall record of 10-6.

Komeno Ogbeneme was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .231 average with two RBIs. Meanwhile, Sherman Oaks CES put together a 0-1 week.

Fulton's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 13 hits and three walks to lead the league in both categories. The Jaguars have given up a mere 94 hits on the year, while striking out 135 opposing hitters. Bryan Thang is the leader in that category with 70 Ks on the season.

The Knights had a league-high 17 steals as a team this week, but still trail Northridge Academy, which has 83 on the year, for the season lead. Sebastian Rivera has racked up 21 steals on his own this season for Sherman Oaks CES.



The Knights' Rivera led the league with six hits this week. His six hits for the year are twentieth in the league, and he boasts a .400 batting average.
