Baseball Recap: Streator Triumphs

While Streator's victory against Reed-Custer wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the Comets 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Isiah Weibel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Winterrowd, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keegan Angelico, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Streator's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Reed-Custer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Streator will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Comets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
