Basketball Recap: Southwood Falls to Blackford in First Game of Season

Southwood unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 58-36 to the Blackford Bruins on Tuesday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Southwood lost, don't look at Bryce Wilcox. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. The contest was Wilcox's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Maddox Marshall was another key player, putting up six points and seven steals.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwood will host Southern Wells at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Blackford, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Bluffton at 7:30 p.m.
