Football Preview: Westminster Wolves vs. Thornton Trojans
The Westminster Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Thornton Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Westminster can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Friday. They fell 21-14 to Denver South. Despite 97 more yards than the Ravens, the Wolves couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Although Westminster took the loss, they still got scores from Mike Davidson and Kevan Bunton.
Westminster wouldn't let Denver South keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Westminster can thank Adrian Moreno and Philip Cruz for forcing both of them. Cruz also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making nine total tackles.
Meanwhile, Thornton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a hard 29-12 fall against Skyview.
The losing side was boosted by Rudy Martinez, who rushed for 101 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Everything came up roses for Westminster against Thornton in their previous matchup back in September of 2015 as the team secured a 54-18 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Thornton's Alika Kealoha, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
