Softball Game Preview: Fillmore Eagles vs. Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines

Fillmore is 2-8 against Bolivar-Richburg since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. Bolivar-Richburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fillmore, who comes in off a win.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Fillmore duked it out with Friendship on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Avoca Central hit Bolivar-Richburg with a 12-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolverines came up short against the Tigers, falling 16-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wolverines have suffered since March 31st.

Kylee Whiting was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Emma Sisson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Fillmore is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Bolivar-Richburg, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Fillmore couldn't quite get it done against Bolivar-Richburg when the teams last played back in April as they fell 12-9. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
