Preview: Okawville Rockets vs. Nashville Hornets
The Okawville Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Nashville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Okawville sitting on six straight victories and Nashville on 12.
Okawville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 26 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 54-24 victory over Wesclin on the road.
Madisyn Wienstroer and Alayna Kraus were among the main playmakers for Okawville as the former scored 13 points and the latter scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Kraus' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adysen Harre, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Nashville's game on Saturday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 40-30 victory over Carterville. Given Nashville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Carterville is ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Okawville pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. Nashville's record now sits at 12-0.
Okawville took a serious blow against Nashville in their previous matchup back in November, falling 55-28. Can Okawville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
