Washington DC High School Football Rankings

Who's up and who's down

The power rankings have been shaken up after a frantic week teeming with triumph and disappointment. Among the action were the efforts of St. Mary's Ryken's sophomore Trevor Nored, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.

Can't Touch This

North Point's 41 - 14 win over St. Charles last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Corey Johnson. Johnson earned two touchdowns and 236 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Johnson among the top power-ranked players for the week.

No Stoppin 'Em

The MaxPreps rankings indicated that Eastern View would come out the decided victor last week, and the rankings were spot on. It put the hurt on Caroline with a conclusive 77 - 6 victory. Eastern View's margin of victory (71 points) marked the biggest win the team has had all season. At 83 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.

Movin on Up

Avalon not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Loyola Blakefield in every quarter. Avalon had a great defensive game, holding Loyola Blakefield to zero points to set up the 28 - 0 win. The victory took its toll on the QB, however, as he was sacked five times. Avalon's success was rewarded with a 17-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.

Next Week's Big Game

If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Friendship Collegiate Academy (3rd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Archbishop Spalding (9th). Neither team managed to put together many points last game, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair. Friendship Collegiate Academy has never lost back-to-back this season, but Archbishop Spalding hopes to show it that there is a first time for everything.
