Basketball Recap: Union Catholic Falls Short Against Ranked Plainfield

On Thursday, Union Catholic faced Plainfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Union Catholic Vikings came up short against the Plainfield Cardinals, falling 74-54. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-37 back in January.

Union Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Plainfield, the victory was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

Coming up, Union Catholic will challenge Montverde Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Plainfield, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against St. Peter's Prep. Plainfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully St. Peter's Prep likes a good challenge.
