Softball Recap: Troy Wins Going Away Against West Carrollton

Troy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt West Carrollton on Wednesday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Pirates. That looming 18-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trojans yet this season.

Riley King made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Troy got a massive performance out of Alexis Ater, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Ater has posted since back in April of 2024. Kaitlynn Price was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Troy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

The win got Troy back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, Troy is taking a road trip to challenge Xenia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Carrollton, they will challenge Tippecanoe at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
