Volleyball Recap: Nazareth Academy Comes Up Short

Nazareth Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros. The Roadrunners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cristeros apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Nazareth Academy lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 27-25, 25-23.

AJ Decker paced Nazareth Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Decker got some help from Hunter Creaney and his 26 assists.

Nazareth Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-23. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-6-1.

Nazareth Academy has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Carmel on the 13th. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Noble Street College Prep on the 12th.
