Softball Recap: Cabrini Comes Up Short

Cabrini dropped their record down to 6-15 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Bishop Foley Ventures, falling 16-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Monarchs haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for Bishop Foley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

For Bishop Foley's part, Elanor Barnes made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barnes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sasha Walker, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Anderson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

While Cabrini had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
