Preview: Sneads Pirates vs. Franklin County Seahawks
The Sneads Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Franklin County Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sneads has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Sneads on the road against Cottondale as the squad secured a 46-13 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-8.
Sneads can attribute much of their success to Ella Sprouse, who scored 14 points. Morgan Dykes was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Franklin County had to settle for a 31-28 defeat against Rocky Bayou Christian on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Franklin County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Rocky Bayou Christian is ranked 125th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mahala Griggs, who scored 7 points. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Nowling, who scored 6 points.
The losses dropped Sneads to 2-3 and Cottondale to 0-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sneads haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. However, it's not like Franklin County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 0 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
