Basketball Recap: Bellevue West Drops Season-High Score on Bellevue East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellevue West). They secured a 77-71 W over the Bellevue East Chieftains on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bellevue West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Da'Nyla Tatum, who posted 21 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Those 21 points gave Tatum a new career-high. Stevie Harley was another key player, going 7-for-13 to rack up 21 points and seven boards.

Tatum wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Bellevue West was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Bellevue West's record now sits at 13-8. As for Bellevue East, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 17-4.

Bellevue West and Bellevue East should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Bellevue West will challenge Benson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 138 places (25 vs. 163). Bellevue West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season. Similarly, Bellevue East (ranked eighth) will meet Fremont (ranked 196th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
