Baseball Recap: Silver Valley Victorious

Silver Valley won the last time they faced Lucerne Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. Silver Valley walked away with an 8-3 victory over Lucerne Valley. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Timothey Yrigoyen made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Silver Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Yrigoyen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonathyn Yrigoyen, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Silver Valley is undefeated when Yrigoyen posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Taylor Mogan also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

The victory got Silver Valley back to even at 3-3. As for Lucerne Valley, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Silver Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lucerne Valley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
