Football Game Preview: West Morris Mendham Minutemen vs. West Essex Knights

The West Morris Mendham Minutemen are taking a road trip to challenge the West Essex Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Morris Mendham is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Friday, West Morris Mendham came up short against Randolph and fell 21-14.

Despite the defeat, West Morris Mendham had strong showings from Owen Lieberwirth, who rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown, and Thomas Guido, who rushed for 61 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, West Essex was able to grind out a solid win over Morris Knolls on Saturday, taking the game 39-26.

West Morris Mendham better keep an eye on Jake Long. He was instrumental in West Essex's win, rushing for 126 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 281 yards and three TDs while completing 94.1% of his passes. Those three passing touchdowns gave Long a new career-high.

West Essex's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for West Morris Mendham, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
