Volleyball Recap: Victory Christian Starts Season with Victory Against Shining Rock Classical Academy

Victory Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They blew past the Shining Rock Classical Academy Falcons 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

One reason for the win was Victory Christian's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-14, 25-6.

Olivia Smith was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had nine kills and seven aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in August of 2024. Karis Vernelson was another key player, getting six aces.

Victory Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Haywood Christian Academy on the 9th. As for Shining Rock Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blue Ridge Early College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
