The Cornerstone Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Unity Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cornerstone Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.6 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Cornerstone Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Southern Christian and fell 10-9. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Gage Donaldson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, J.R. Monroe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Holden Reese, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Unity Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 15-1 to Covenant Christian Academy.

Unity Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Benjamin Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Aaron Kennett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Unity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Cornerstone Christian, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cornerstone Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .515. However, it's not like Unity Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Cornerstone Christian took their win against Unity Christian in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 17-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
